Will and I had the pleasure of listening to and reviewing the newest project from Jamaican artist Azizzi Romeo, and from the opening moments, Signs of the Time makes its presence known. Reggae has always carried a rhythm capable of lifting the temperature of a room, but this album does more than simply create a sound—it invites the listener to move through its stories, emotions, and reflections alongside Romeo.

Growing up in rural Linstead, St. Catherine, Azizzi was surrounded by music from an early age. As the son of legendary roots-reggae artist Max Romeo, he carries an undeniable musical heritage, but his journey began on its own terms. At just eight years old, he entered the industry as lead singer of the duo Rominal alongside his brother and later toured internationally with his father. Eventually, Azizzi stepped into a solo career, determined to develop an identity that could respect his roots without being defined entirely by them.

That evolution comes into sharper focus with his debut full-length album, Signs of the Time. Across 11 tracks, Romeo pairs his smooth vocal delivery with the organic sound of live instrumentation from the Guiding Star Orchestra. Production contributions from CHLLNGR, Jaszol Roots Revival, Thomas Leholt, and Prince Fatty help give the project a rich, cohesive sound rooted in reggae while allowing room for modern influences and introspection.

At its heart, Signs of the Time is an album about observation. Romeo looks at the world around him—the changes, struggles, emotions, and experiences shaping the present—and translates them into music that feels thoughtful without losing its rhythm. There is a timeless quality to the reggae foundation, but the perspective belongs very much to the moment we are living in.

With Signs of the Time, Azizzi Romeo is not simply continuing a famous musical lineage. He is expanding it. The album gives him room to explore different moods, stories, and perspectives while establishing a voice that increasingly feels like his own. The name Romeo may carry history, but this project makes it clear that Azizzi is writing his own chapter.

Chris & Will give Signs of the Time 10 out of 10 smiles for its powerful sound, emotional depth, and unforgettable musical journey.
